College Students For Shaheen…
as long as it’s not too early and it’s on my own terms.
The friendly questions posed to former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen by college students Monday night didn’t mean they will do whatever it takes to help her oust U.S. Sen. John Sununu.
Not if it means waking up before the sun rises.
No one expressly took up international affairs student Brittany Weaver’s offer that a group join “Stop Sununu” volunteers at 6:45 this morning, just before Sununu planned to speak to the Somersworth Rotary Club.
I’m so glad the Shaheen campaign is energized with eager young volunteers ready to do whatever it takes to get her elected. I gotta tell you, if she can’t get the college kids excited to help out, in a presidential election cycle, she’s never going to get them excited. And if you don’t have cheap young help like college kids, how the hell would you ever get their parents excited about your campaign?
Of course I love the excuse of the college kid who brought up the bad idea to begin with.
Even Weaver, 19, said she had to pass.
“The election’s really far away — and I think Gov. Shaheen has an amazing chance and I’m going to be behind her all the way — but I’m very busy tomorrow working on presidential campaigns, etcetera, and waking up at 6:45 in the morning is very difficult,” she said. “If there was a ton of interest, I probably would have gone.”
If there was a ton of interest…
I’m thinking that pretty much sums up the Shaheen campaign at this point. And if her campaign manager doesn’t do something soon, it’ll sum up the entire campaign too.
