No way he can get a fair trial in this state

The he in question would be, Michael Addison. Now that the judge has refused to move the pre-trial hearings, it’s near 100% that he’ll never get a fair trial.

Despite objections from Michael Addison’s lawyers, pretrial hearings in his capital murder case will be held in Manchester, where the police say Addison shot and killed Officer Michael Briggs last fall.

This state is too small for a case with this notoriety to have a fair trial. It’s just not going to happen. The media were all over this case. Hell, the police shut the city down for most of a day, which pissed me off but that’s for another day.

There was a similar case in RI before we moved. A detective was talking to someone inside the police station in Providence and the interviewee was a complete and utter moron and somehow was able to get the detectives gun and shoot the detective dead. The police got their licks in first but they caught him.

They have the same problem down in RI that we have here in NH. It’s a small state. The t.v. stations can essentially saturate coverage with very little effort. There’s not that many newspapers either and they have overlapping coverage. I just don’t see how any judge can honestly say anyone can get a fair trial in such a small state considering the nature of the crime. I guess that’s for the appellate appeal.
