a dog-eared town

I know things have been a bit sparse around here lately.

The little woman and I are sick of the area and all the problems Milford is having so we’ve decided to move.

At first we thought of moving to Peterborough NH. It’s a very nice town. It has some cute shops and it’s pretty small. Well we spent some time their earlier this year. Just poking around, trying to find housing and whether or not it would be a good fit.

What we discovered is that the places that we could afford would essentially be the same as what we have now. Stuck with a bunch of loud, rude and obnoxious people. We were trying to find a house to rent but just couldn’t find anything in our price range. Anything that was in our range tended to be 3 family houses that were stacked together one on top of each other.

Then we though, maybe we’ll just stay there temporarily until we get something better. Yeah. We were deluded.

So then we tried to find some place else. And we think we’ve found it. The Concord area.

Yes it’s the state capitol. But surprisingly, the city itself is actually pretty nice. It has a great downtown with lots of stores and boutiques. Even if we don’t live in the city itself, there’s all the shopping stores that we would need, which Peterborough didn’t. If we had moved to Peterborough, we would have had to go to Keene or back to Nashua or Manchester for a couple of stores that we regularly use. And that was really the last thing for Peterborough. If we can’t get the things we need, why move there?

So we’re looking in the Concord NH area. It’s been difficult with the odd hours I work. But we’re working on it and hope to be out of Milford by the end of June. With some luck and hard work we’ll have a nice place to call home.
