How Not To Stop Copyright Infringement
If you are terminally stupid, which the MPAA is, you hire a company to “catch” people downloading copyrighted files and keep the information for when you file a lawsuit. The reason the MPAA is terminally stupid is that their contractor committed copyright infringement itself, by illegally offering downloads of copyrighted material.
here’s a taste of the BAIT for which they are laying out for the unsuspecting noob, a nice 745MB XVID(?) copy of Batman Returns just waiting for someone to come along a take a bite.
There’s a screenshot of the movie to be downloaded. And if the police did this, it’d be called entrapment. You can’t actually allow people to download copyrighted material without authorization. Thats called copyright infringement.
So, did the MPAA give this scumbag company permission or did they do it on their own? I’d like to know because this move would certainly affect any court cases. And if this company didn’t have a problem doing this, why did the site go down after it hit digg and slashdot?
Maybe they had second thoughts on the legality of their little websites? Really, if the movie and record companies are going to go to these lengths, what’s next, going after children?
