Kerry camp spins its wheels - The Washington Times: Nation/Politics - July 24, 2004

Er, I bet John would like this one back. For the press people, you know the “journalists”, there is an image of a car, John was in Detroit after all, and it was an image of a car. Now remember, this is Detroit, home of some small companies like Ford and General Motors. So, an image of a car was picked for the press pass…. and it was that of a Rolls Royce. Yeah, man of the people and all that. There’s some choice quotes in this piece.

Sam Burwell from Corunna, Mich., a third-generation auto worker for General Motors. “It also shows who he’s really in touch with: his European, elitist French friends and not Americans like me. A Rolls-Royce, for cryin’ out loud.”

I’m guessing how this average American will be voting this fall.

“The Detroit trip was right after his Nantucket trip, right?” asked Miss Duffy, referring to Mr. Kerry’s summer home on the exclusive island of Nantucket off the coast of Massachusetts. “Maybe it was a tough transition for him.”

Nicely said, though a bit snarky, considering that she works for the Cook Report.

Asked about the press-pass logo, Kerry spokesman David Wade said it was unintentional error by a campaign volunteer and then criticized President Bush’s economic policies.

Gotta love the Kerry people. They screw something up and promptly blame W. Funny how that happens.

UPDATE
I was able to find a picture of the press pass. It’s really obvious to see that the car is a Rolls Royce. Not good for the Kerry camp.
