Steampunk Saturday
So I was browsing the web, I don’t even remember where, and I came across this photo.

Wow. What a keyboard.
Believe it or not, it actually works. It’s an amazing modification. It came from a standard issued IBM keyboard and was modified so that it looks amazing. Hell, he actually went and created a web page so you could follow his directions and create one just like it for yourself. BTW, his name is Jake von Slatt and his website is amazing. You should check out some of the other mods he’s done. I’ll probably show some of them off also in the future. The nicest thing is that he does have detailed instructions on making some of his mods. He’s a very generous person to do that.
After looking over Mr von Slatt’s website and browsing around I found out that this style is called Steampunk.
The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century, and often set in Victorian era England—but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date.
It turns out there are a whole bunch of people into this sort of thing and they do mods and create amazing pieces of work. It’s an incredible DIY ethos and one that I aspire to, myself. I’ll have a series of posts and photo’s coming up in the future, probably for Saturday, just to have something a little different. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I’ll enjoy showing them.
